It’s a big day guys. Disney has rolled out free Wi-Fi at the Magic Kingdom.
According to a report from InsideTheMagic.net, free wireless internet access is now available at the Magic Kingdom.
Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom can now connect to a Wi-Fi network named “Disney-Guest” and, after agreeing to Disney’s terms of usage, can use the free service.
The announcement is part of the ongoing “NextGen” project that’s using technology to improve guest experiences at Walt Disney World.
According to the report, the addition of free Wi-Fi was confirmed by its announcement on the internal Disney Cast Member web portal known as the ‘Hub.’
It’s expected the WiFi service will eventually reach all four Walt Disney World theme parks and could possibly extend to water parks and monorails in the future.
This report follows news from earlier this week about a new “NextGen” mobile experience debuting this month. ‘My Disney Experience’ is expected to include features that will be part of the Next Generation FASTPASS RFID system, along with wait times, park maps and other features.
A little more than a year ago, we speculated about Disney eventually bringing Wi-Fi to the parks. In the post, I speculated:
“When Wi-Fi does make its way to Main Street, I don’t foresee the service being free. If we’re paying $15/night to get Wi-Fi in Disney hotel room, why would Disney offer Wi-Fi for free in the park?”
